Global trends in training and development sector 2022


Training and development has evolved from the past to today’s context and in 2022 there are new different trends that is being changing the training and development aspects of the organization in the present as following.

The workplace has changed as a result of the recent fast digitalization (Learnster, 2022). In 2022, many of the talents that were in demand five years ago might no longer be relevant. It goes without saying that businesses urgently need to reskill their employees. Therefore, in 2022 a major trend that takes place is developing new skills and competencies of employees rapidly with the changing demands of the business environment, specially the digitalization. 

Apart from the technical skills, power skill plays a huge role in 2022. Power skills include communication, empathy, humility, collaboration (Learnster, 2022) and many more. Power skills has been taking the attention of the world in 2019 but during and after the pandemic power skills started to show its significance more at work place where the whole world went through lot of changes. Therefore, despite the technical skills, training and development focused on power skills are becoming a trend in 2022 due to its given importance employees, specially to the management.

Learning companies have a higher chance of success if they invest more on developing power skills. Organizations can use sharing of internal information through peer -to-peer, top-down, (Learnster, 2022) and bottom-up approaches. Additionally, internally and externally developed courses and pre-existing information are also used to in this kid of training. This enhances comprehension of both internal uses of power skills and their conventional definitions.

In the present organizations try to recruit people from the organization itself to fill the vacancies internally. Since training and development is focusing on developing employee skills to fill the vacant positions in the organization.  Organizations have less concern about the academic qualifications and maturity of the employees but organizations search for employees who have the relevant skills to fill the skill gaps in the organization. Since training and development also provided to employees who showcase potential to different job roles in the organization.

Training and developing employees on hybrid workforce is another trend in 2022. It's typical in company to have a hybrid workplace (Learnster, 2022). Organizations are looking some employees to work from home in 92% of cases. In the present around 70% of the workforce consists of remote workers. Specially after Covid-19 pandemic hybrid work place is considered as a must. Therefore, organization are focused on developing employee skills and competencies towards developing a hybrid work force.

As well in 2022 organizations are maximizing the learning opportunities (Learnster, 2022) they offer towards development of technology.  For this they use both onboarding and external training. This can be twofold as customer and employee training. Technology is important as it provides cost benefits to the organizations. Most of the time learning is provided to employees in learning institutions as it possesses a cutting-edge, adaptable learning infrastructure. The environment is user-friendly and conducive to learning, making it appropriate for a range of learners and learning interventions. Including.
